Mashable: Plusmo Gets $4.41M to Move Beyond iPhone Widgets
Kristen Nicole about Mashable...
Mobile widget creator Plusmo has raised $4.41 million in Series A financing, according to alarm:clock. Launched last year, Plusmo emerged at a high point for newly released mobile widget and mobilization sites.
The company has done little to make itself stand out, except for its milestone of 20,000 iPhone widgets. In cornering the iPhone market, Plusmo is likely hoping to be in an increasingly improving position, as iPhones continue to dominate the current mobile browsing market and have an interface that’s highly suited for widgets.
With so much funding, however, we’re also likely see a ramped up focus on advertising. Perhaps even a bulked out marketplace for available widgets, and associated tools that publishers mobilizing their content can use for promotional purposes is on Plusmo’s radar, too.
